St John Ambulance Band

About Us...

The Isle of Sheppey St. John Ambulance Band is based in Kent, on The Isle of Sheppey in the UK. Part of St. John Ambulance, it is a full military Band with an estimate of around 65 members. Membership consists of ages varying from 11 to 70 years.  The musicians in the Band are either St. John Cadets or Adults, qualified in first aid. In addition to the Band rehersals and performances, they also give up many hours of their free time each year to provide first aid cover at events in Kent and beyond.

The Band was formed in 1946 and has had 11 Bandmasters to date. The current Bandmaster is Dean Faulkner, who has been in the Band since the age of 8. A dedicated member of St. John Ambulance, Natalie Burgess is the Assistant Bandmaster and the newly appointed Badger leader.  Kevin Roberts is our Musical Director and undertakes all musical arrangements, Kevin has had a long history in the order with St. John and who has also previously been a Bandmaster. The Band performs in events all over the country, ranging from Ceremonial parades, Carnivals, Fetes & Private functions.  We have performed at many high profile events, which have included performances for Her Majesty the Queen, The Lord Mayors Show and  recently our first European performance in Disneyland Paris.

As our name suggests, the Isle of Sheppey Band originally formed as a marching band. Please view our history page for full details regarding our last 60 years.
